Litigation Legal Assistant

Aldershot, Hampshire

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Litigation Assistant to join the Personal Injury department of a reputable and niche firm in Hampshire. You will have first contact with clients and deal with all stages of the Low Value Pre-Action Protocol. This will be a mixture of road traffic accidents, employer's liability and public liability cases.

The role will be to provide full secretarial support to the Fee Earner to include:

  • Submitting claims via the portal
  • Drafting various legal documentation
  • Arranging meetings and conferences.
  • Liaising with clients, experts, counsel and third-party solicitors
  • Preparing bundles and collating witness statements.
  • Chase medical evidence
  • Filing, photocopying and opening/closing client files.
  • Arrange examinations and treatment for the new clients
  • Providing full support to the fee earner, including arranging appointments, dealing with client queries in person and by phone, together with preparation of correspondence and documents.
  • Filing, photocopying and opening/closing client files in a timely manner.
  • Regular consideration of client files and liaising with fee earner on any action required.
  • Maintaining and coordinating the fee earners diary and travel arrangements and reporting on these as necessary.
  • To provide ad hoc cover for sickness and holiday absences in the team when needed.

Desirable skills:

  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience within personal injury particularly within catastrophic injury
  • To be able to handle your own caseload of files
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with some previous experience of drafting and effective management of client expectations.
  • Advanced IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • An organised and accurate approach to work, with effective prioritising skills.
