Lending Paralegal

Guildford, Surrey

Salary depending on experience

A highly regarded and top tier legal practice are seeking an ambitious and motivated Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join their reputable Business and Commercial Law team in their Guildford office. The team acts for a range of clients from owner managed businesses to large national and multi-national companies in a variety of sectors including manufacturing, retail, logistics and IT.

Providing advisory and transactional services to lenders and borrowers, the areas of focus will include:

  • Facility and loan agreements
  • Property and development finance
  • Guarantees
  • Acquisition and asset finance
  • Debentures and share charges
  • Refinancing
  • Legal and equitable mortgages
  • Consumer lending
  • Subordination and priority arrangements
  • RMBS and CMBS
  • Intercreditor documentation and mezzanine financing
  • Private equity

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking instructions and progressing the files under the solicitor’s instructions
  • Assisting the team with larger scale, complex transactions
  • Attending to clients of the firm
  • Drafting a wide range of legal documentation such as agreements
  • Develop an understanding of credit underwriting, financial services regulation and consumer credit
  • Companies House searches
  • Assisting with all aspects of post completion matters including title registration and SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax) returns
  • Preparing AP1 forms and dealing with registrations
  • Active involvement within business development
  • Maintaining a professional and polite manor at all times
  • Secretarial support is provided to all fee earning members of the team

Desired skills:

  • Due to the nature of the responsibilities in this role, it is preferable that you have working experience of the residential conveyancing transaction or lending
  • Candidates with office administration experience with a keen interest in law will be considered
  • Law graduate / undertaking LPC with a genuine interest in business law
  • Handling own files under supervision
  • Client focused
  • Good knowledge of relevant computer programmes e.g. MS Office and online time recording.
