We are working with a highly regarded law firm who are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their Residential Conveyancing team based in Portsmouth. This is a full-time, office-based role within a busy and supportive department.

You will be providing assistance to the Fee Earners on a mixed caseload of property files including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, re-mortgages, shared equity/shared ownership and new builds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting Fee Earners with all aspects of residential conveyancing files.
  • Opening and closing files.
  • Managing ID and AML procedures.
  • Drafting contract packs and client care letters.
  • Liaising directly with clients to ensure a smooth and professional service.
  • Ordering property searches.
  • Responding to Land Registry requisitions.
  • Sending title documentation to lenders and clients.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary within a Residential Property department.
  • Strong administrative and secretarial skills.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills.
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, case management systems and digital dictation.

  • Salary depending on experience - £24,000 – £27,000
