Competitive salary depending on experience and qualifications.

An exceptional Legal 500 legal practice with a wonderful building in London are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Accountant to join the Private Client team, specifically to work on Tax and Trusts and matters.

Successful applicants will have strong experience within Tax Accountancy matters across the board and confident in working with Trustees, Stockbrokers and Investment Managers as well as wealthy private clients who are both resident and non-resident.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Residence and domicile and tax planning for non-residents or non-domiciliary’ s
  • International tax treaties, in respect of tax residence and liability to taxation of income, capital gains and inheritances
  • UK legal and tax issues facing trustees and beneficiaries of overseas trusts
  • The implications for investors or businessmen coming into the UK or doing business in the UK
  • Tax issues on leaving the UK
  • Complex international business issues

Duties will include:

  • Managing an established portfolio of clients ensuring they are compliant
  • Working closely with other solicitors and fee earners in the firm
  • Preparation of accounts for trusts and charitable organisations
  • Tax computations and tax return preparation
  • Arranging the payment of invoices and the distribution of funds
  • Preparing Inheritance Tax forms as required for trusts
  • Advise on inheritance tax and capital gains tax issues (including potential mitigation strategies) and on trust law aspects
  • Preparing trustees resolutions and deeds of appointment of funds
  • Correspondence with executors, trustees, beneficiaries and other professionals
  • Promoting a compassionate and sensitive disposition and client experience when dealing with the elderly or incapacitated
  • Proactively networking and marketing within the team to generate new business and reputation.
  • Responsibility for mentoring and assisting more junior team members
  • Maintaining good billings records within the team
  • Producing meeting papers for client meetings

Desired Skills:

  • Legal background with specific experience in tax and trusts accounting matters
  • AAT, ATT, ACA, ACCA, or TEP qualification essential
  • High degree of knowledge of complex trust accounting, including specialist areas such as Landed estates and charitable trusts
  • High degree of knowledge of the taxation of trusts, UK taxation of offshore trusts, CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
