Private Client Legal Assistant/ Paralegal (Tax and Trusts)

An exceptional legal practice with multiple offices in the Surrey is seeking an ambitious and motivated Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join the Private Client team, specifically to work on Tax, Trusts and Estates matters in their Guildford office.

Successful applicants will have strong experience within accountancy or Tax and Trusts matters across the board and confident in working with Trustees, Stockbrokers and Investment Managers as well as wealthy private clients.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Wills Trusts
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Probate
  • Inheritance Tax
  • Tax returns
  • Estate Planning

Duties will include:

  • Assisting the Chartered Legal Executive.
  • Dealing with AML and engaging information for clients.
  • Responsibility for providing high quality, timely, professional advice on Probate and Estate administration, Inheritance Planning and Trusts.
  • Preparing Trusts Tax and Estate Tax returns.
  • Preparing trustees resolutions and deeds of appointment of funds.
  • Registering trusts and estates using the HMRC.
  • Correspondence with executors, trustees, beneficiaries and other professionals.
  • Proactively networking and marketing within the team to generate new business and reputation.
  • Attending clients in their own environment as required.
  • Responsibility for mentoring and assisting more junior team members.
  • Maintaining good billings records within the team.

Desired Skills:

  • Legal background with specific experience in tax and trusts matters.
  • Previous experience using CCH Trusts Accounts.
  • Previous experience of case management systems.
  • Ideally candidates will hold STEP or SFE accreditations, or be working towards these. This is by no means essential but highly desirable and support will be given to those seeking to pursue this.
